Being a teacher is not all about teaching, but also, being able to handle UNREASONABLE PARENTS.

A scene was created in the music school yesterday, much 'thanks' to my student parent. Just because she was being reminded to pay the school fees by the admin staff, she was all unhapy about it and started shouting like a mad uneducated woman, shifting the blame to everyone else but herself.

And it all started because i didn't upgrade her daughter to Grade 1. Her daughter has been learning for the past 1.5 years. 1.5 years, to think about it.. is not a long time. To boost my ego a little, my mother said i was the best student in my Junior Piano Course in Yamaha back in my younger years, and yet, it still took me nearly 3 years to obtain a grade 1. (2 years for beginner and almost 9 mth for grade 1). What is 1.5 years compared to 3 years? And for goodness sake, her daughter doesn't even know how to recognise the notes, with that, how is she ever gonna pass grade 1? Considering that sight-reading is one component of the examination. And worst still, she doesnt practise, neither does she do the homework i assign her, and wait, she even forgot to bring her books to class yesterday. And once, she forgot to come for lesson, and her mum blamed me for not reminding her!!! Oh boy..if that's the case, i pity your daughter's primary school teacher cause she has to remind you to send your daughter to school 5 days a week. It says alot about her daughter's attitude as a student. Yes, her mother always complain that she is finanically tight because her husband is the sole bread winner of the family. May i say that learning piano is a LUXURY NOT a NECESSICITY. Please go check up the dictionary for the meaning of these two words if you don't understand. And hello? If you want your daughter to learn Grade 1, it'll be more demanding on your expenses because the school fees are higher! So stop complaining to me about your internal business, the school is not a charitable organization and neither am i your counsellor.

Now comes the hightlight of everything: The parent said that i scolded her daughter, when ALMOST EVERY LESSON, I GIVE HER THE PRIVILEGE TO SIT THROUGH THE LESSON. Use your brains, if you're inside, would i even have the guts to raise my voice at your daughter? I must be out of my mind to do such a foolish thing! Yes, i've been wrongly accused of something that i never did, at least not to her daughter. I've been teaching for nearly 2 years, and i havent had anything problems with any parent or student. Neither has any parent lodged a complain about me! I've only raised my voice at 1 student throughout my whole history of teaching. And that's all. Fullstop.

Even the staff said that what she rattled/argued about makes no sense and her story doesn't even tally. Luckily i have some people who are on my side. (: When asked if she wanted to confront me, she didn't even dare to speak a word to me, knowing that she's definitely in the wrong. Well, if behaving like her mad dog makes her feel good, then so be it. If she wants to change teacher.. just let it be. I'll be the happiest girl in the world. Whatever it is, my conscience is clear and i'll continue to put in my best effort for the students who are worthy of my time.
