Our 1.5 mths of efforts have gone to waste. All because of??????? ETHANOL. How dumb can this get? And how dumb can we get.

We discussed the protocol with Dr Quek cause our DNA yield was insufficient, and purity wasn't within the given range. In fact, we followed the protocol very strictly, and he said there shouldn't be any problem, cause that was a standard protocol for DNA extraction. We went step by step by step and everything seemed alright, but when it came to step 15 or so, he suddenly popped out the question "what kinda of ethanol did you all use?" And we went like errrr.... the 70% ethanol in the squirt bottles.

You should have seen that utterly shocked expression on his face. I think his heart almost jumped out. Serious! haha. So now, got to use absolute alcohol and dilute it with distilled water to get 70% ethanol, since the ones in the squirt bottles are diulted using tap water.

Sigh. I feel so damn cheated!!!!!
